Young Family Christmas Party

Tonight was the annual Young Family Christmas Party. It was such a blast. There is nothing better than getting together with the ones you love to celebrate the holidays.

First, as is common at Young Family parties, we ate a delicious meal and helped ourselves to an array of desserts. Crete played with his cousins and Rafe made the rounds, being passed from lap to lap, thoroughly enjoying all the attention he was receiving.

Then came the most anticipated event of the evening...PRESENTS!!! Crete got a toy car from Grandma Young that he absolutely loved and Rafe got a toy train. Surprisingly, I'm pretty sure Crete had more fun giving gifts to his relatives than receiving them, a trend I hope continues throughout his life.

Just when the party seemed like it couldn't get any better, who do you think showed up...SANTA!!! Crete was so excited. He sat on Santa's lap and got a candy cane. For the rest of the time Santa was there, Crete took it upon himself to stand right by him and 'direct traffic' telling the other kids when it was their turn. Rafe even decided to try out Santa's lap.

And to everyone's delight even Grandma Young got in on the action! Instead of singing 'I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus'we are going to have to change the lyrics to 'I saw Grandma kissing Santa Claus'.

A night like this makes you forget about the holiday rat race and remember the true meaning of Christmas. I couldn't ask for a better way to spend the holidays...food, fun and family.

Our blog...our lives...our memories...

Well, in an effort to chronicle our crazy lives I have decided to take up blogging. Hopefully in years to come the kids will be grateful to be able to reflect upon their childhood from anywhere in the world just by logging onto this blog. I, for one, will be glad to have a record of what occurred during this time when life seems like a whirlwind and your mind cannot keep track of everything that you may want it to. So join us for this crazy ride we call life and experience our ups, downs and in-betweens because before we know it the kids will be grown and our lives will be mearly a reflection of all the moments that have come and gone...moments that hopefully I will be able to share on our family's blog.
